Corpus of digitalized mammals skeletons
Published Saturday 6 October 2007, updated Monday 8 October 2007,
by J.H. Yvinec, Michel Coutureau, Carine Tomé
This drawings corpus realized by M. Coutureau is for community use. These drawings are available in Adobe IllustratorTM format (version 8.0). They are particulary practical for showing anatomical distributions. A first set of domestic animal skeletons was realized in 1996 by M. Coutureau, in collaboration with V. Forest (INRAP): cat (Felis catus), horse (Equus caballus), goat (Capra hircus), dog (Canis familiaris), rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), sheep (Ovis aries), pig (Sus domesticus) and cow (Bos taurus). In 2003, in collaboration with C. Beauval (student), J.G. Ferrié (student) et J-H. Yvinec (INRAP), we added: bison (Bison bonasus), badger (Meles meles), beaver (Castor fiber), red deer (Cervus elaphus), wolverine (Gulo gulo), hyena (Crocuta crocuta), lion (Panthera leo), wolf (Canis lupus), otter (Lutra lutra), bear (Ursus arctos), gallic pig (Sus domesticus), reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), rhinoceros and wild boar (Sus scrofa). Since end of 2004, animals added depend on users request. Collaborators list expands with coming of S. Lepetz and J.D. Vigne (CNRS). Early in 2005, animals added are: hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus), guanaco (Lama guanicoe), marmot (Marmota marmota) and prolagus (Prolagus sardus). In the late 2005, we added: ancient elephant (Palaeoloxodon antiquus), roe deer (Capreoplus capreoplus) and ibex (Capra ibex). Marmot and et ancient elephant are realized by C. Beauval; Roe deer (Capreoplus capreoplus) and ibex(Capra ibex) by J.G. Ferrié. In 2006, realizations were less numerous: the dromedary (Camelus dromedarius) is available. In 2007, innovations come from the book Ducrotay de Blainville H.M. (1839, Paris: A. Bertrand): osteography or compared iconographic description of the skeleton and the dental system of the recent and fossil mammals to be used as a basis for zoology and geology. This work is accompanied by 323 boards lithographed by J.C Werner. In first you can see here the porcupine (Hystrix cristata) carried out in collaboration with Herve Monchot. In October, here finally the lynx (Lynx lynx) and the fox (Vulpes vulpes). COMMENT : When you will use these drawings don’t forget to keep the reference (on the left of the draw). For those which cannot open these boards with the Adobe Illustrator format, here the same drawings with format PNG (right button on the link and click on "recording the target under"): Bison bonasus, Bos taurus, Camelus dromedarius, Canis familiaris, Canis lupus, Capra hircus, Capra ibex, Capreoplus capreoplus, Castor fiber, Cervus elaphus, Crocuta crocuta, Equus caballus, Erinaceus europaeus, Felis catus, Gulo gulo, Hystrix cristata, Lama guanicoe, Lutra lutra, Lynx lynx, Marmota marmota, Meles meles, Oryctolagus cuniculus, 0vis aries, Palaeoloxodon antiquus, Panthera leo, Prolagus sardus, Rangifer tarandus, Rhinoceros sp., Sus domesticus, Sus domesticus (gaulois), Sus scrofa, Ursus arctos, Vulpes vulpes.
