Many photograph basis are on the way and already associate at least four laboratories, for the time being.

Technical aspects

Various options of on-line publishing are being studied.

• On-line consulting links to a database on a server (kind of server to be deter-mined).
• For your publication on the site, letting at your disposal a database file at the end of a presentation article doesn’t seem to be a very user-friendly solution. In deed, it would generate very few traffic on the site which would not give the opportunity to the community to share documents.

Articles by theme with thematic boards or image by image at your disposal. This op-tion seems more convenient to allow projects to come into place progressively and to encourage cooperations and regular additions (of a photo in a thematic article - or of a new series giving opportunity to a new article from another author).

For the visual aspect, image by image publishing would be far more interesting for an on-line consultation. A board, such as this one, cannot allow one’s to see all marks or anatomic details. On the other side, with this way each photo is presented with ap-propriate comments and can be supplied in high resolution on attached file (see example hereunder)

Another advantage is that such a base is hard to copy totally. Indeed, you can consult on-line and load only the file you are interested in and not the whole thing as you would with the unique database.

Protection aspects

Although each participant wishes to let these photoes at the free disposal of the community, all of us admit it is necessary to find a way allowing to do it with the respect of the intellectual property. A correct guarantee is to first publish « on paper » a presentation of the basis which would allow to quote them. As for the photographs, a copyright integration directly on the photo, is possible as long as it remains readable. The photographic credence in the photo legend used again in later publications (with or without the author authorization - to be determined) would be a second way of protection.
